This has been an entertaining week for me

Sunday we went to the Boot Hill Casino at Dodge City, Kansas. After dinner, Jack and I sat at the table and cured world problems. We were sitting beside the drink machine when suddenly five or six cups came flying out of the holder to the floor. The girl I was 60-questioning picked them up and threw them away. In a little while it does it again. This lady stacked them back on the counter. Sure enough another guy pulls a cup out and several follow the first one out to the floor. He breaks out in a grin, throws his hand up and exclaims, “I'm a winner!!” My kind of guy.

On Monday the Fair Street University crowd was solving world problems when my phone rings with a telemarketer on the other end. He tells me I am eligible for a settlement on a diabetic drug. $10,000,000 could be mine. I tell him for that much I would come and get it. He banters with me for a bit, so I ask him where in India he is located. He loses it. He says he is from Pakistan and I was a "@#$%^&^@ for saying he is from India. I hang up because I'm pretty sure he isn't going to give me the money now.

As I relate the story to the loafers, he calls back. Accident or on purpose, we never got to there. I immediately put him on speaker. As he starts his spiel, I tell him what I really wanted was a woman. He tells me if I would send him my sister, he would send me the money. As I sadly tell him I didn't have a sister, one of the guys yells to him we can send his sister. The entertainment stops because he hangs up on us.

Tuesday was mine and Cleo's 51st anniversary. I had thought about it a time or two but it always slipped down the list. By the time I remembered she had already started supper, so the celebratory dinner out will be another time. She is my favorite wife of all times, so happy anniversary, sweetie.

Thursday, Jaylyn got her driving permit so old people and squirrels everywhere are nervous. Cleo was concerned when I told her Jaylyn was taking us to Sonic before we went to the Town and Country Christian Church for the vacation Bible school finale. I wasn't worried because I have never had a grandchild let me down driving me around. She did great. Jaylyn's brothers Travis and Colby were VBS attendees and did a good job singing. There was a nice crowd to watch the show and listen to Matt Miles from the Creation Truth Foundation. He had a good message, and had set up a very interesting dinosaur exhibit. The 30-plus kids all did a wonderful job at the Town and Country VBS. The Gordons and all their helpers always do a fine job with the young people.

The Saturday evening cruise was last night. I hope my brother Jack made it back from the National Falcon Car Show in Wichita, Kansas, in time to participate. Thanks to everyone for all the hard work to make it go smoothly. And to top it all off we got nearly three inches of rain this week. God is good to me sometimes.
