  • Love note to my wife

Nathan Hosier, Cedar Grove Wesleyan Church|Feb 1, 2019

To my wife, I am writing this note to thank you for all that you have done for me. You have supported me in everything I have done and the decisions that were made. You supported me when I went back to school. You supported me when we were called by God to Cedar Grove Wesleyan to be the pastor. You did all this and made sure our boys were taken care of. You did many things that most people don’t realize. You stayed up late getting a costume done for different occasions that the boys were involved in. You made sure the boys were thought of f...

  • Spiritually Speaking

    W. Jay Tyree, College Hill Church of Christ|Feb 1, 2019

Nicodemus came to Jesus. Nicodemus came to Jesus “after hours.” Nicodemus came to Jesus after the hustle and bustle of a growing ministry had quieted down for the evening. He came to Jesus at night. It would be easy to get so caught up in the first phrase of John chapter 3 that we never get to the real meat of the passage (spiritual re-birth and God’s great sacrifice), but one has to wonder why brother Nic chose to wait until after dinner to approach the young Rabbi. Perhaps it was the only time the two could get a moment to meet. After all,...

  • Groundhog Day

    Arden Chaffee|Feb 1, 2019

Last year’s calendar was weary with special days, celebrations, anniversaries and appointments while 2019 is stacking-up to be the same. February was, for the second year, the slowest month at the Elegant Toad, a trend hopefully ending in 2019, but looking at the calendar, February is a busy month with Valentine’s Day, President’s Day and the birthday celebrations for Washington, Lincoln and Chaffee. According to the 2019 edition of The Old Farmer’s Almanac, itself founded in 1792, Februar...

  • Random Thoughts

    Roger Hardaway|Feb 1, 2019

As we saw earlier, some advertisers create fictional characters and use them over and over in a series of television ads to help get their messages across to viewers. The familiarity of these “spokespersons” undoubtedly helps to create positive images of their companies in the minds of the consuming public. Allstate Insurance has its “mayhem” guy and GEICO has its gecko. I like some of these characters but not others. Among other insurance companies, I like the Aflac duck and I can tolerat...
