    The Patchwork Friends OHCE group held their regular meeting on April 19 at the home of Dee Mason. The hostess called the meeting to order and led the group in the flag salute.     April Ridgway hosted the monthly meeting of the Tulip Garden Club in Alycen Yoder’s home on April 1. Ridgway welcomed her guests to a brunch of breakfast casserole, cinnamon rolls, orange rolls, fruit salad, tea and coffee. She chose bright spring colors for the tableware and tablecloths.     The Woods County Retired Educators Association (WCREA) held their luncheon meeting at the Homestead on April 19 at 11:30 a.m. Arden Chaffee, president, introduced guest speaker Becky Guffy, warden at Bill Johnson Correction Center. Guffy spoke of her local roots and gave the reason she first entered into the correction program as being insurance.     Alva police were called to the Beadles Nursing Home on April 14 about 4:30 p.m. in reference to a trespasser. Officer Kris Franta responded. According to court documents, Franta met with Dayna Jordan who took him to a resident’s room. There he observed a woman identified as Jennie Borneman and her child in the room. Jordan, Borneman and Franta went to Jordan’s office to discuss the situation. Jordan advised that Borneman had been previously issued a trespass warning for the property.     A man has been charged with two felony counts after he was found to be registered as a sex offender in Woods County while living in Alfalfa County, according to the Woods County Sheriff’s Office. Gladstone Merritt Evans III, 30, has been charged with providing false and/or misleading registration information, a felony punishable by up to five years with the Department of Corrections and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
