Please read Deuteronomy 6. Thank you. There is much in this chapter to consider. This chapter follows one of the sections of Scripture that list the Ten Commandments. These laws have been debated over, taken down and essentially forgotten. Some have even said that the Commandments and the Old Testament are not relevant today. They are wrong and we are seeing the proof of that in society and all over the world. In Deuteronomy 6, Israel is told to be careful to follow these commandments. They are to teach them to their children. This is to be a...
Sometimes we find inspiration in the oddest of places. Tonight, I made my way over to the Pit to watch the NWOSU volleyball team as they took on those others girls from that other place. The match was going along fairly evenly, the other girls won the first game and the Lady Rangers won the second. Early in the third game, as I was beginning to get a little antsy and wondering if I had been there long enough to prove my loyalty to the players from my philosophy class that had invited me, inspiration struck. One of the Lady Rangers went up to sp...

August 15th has come and gone but the memories of what happened in upstate New York on Max Yasgur’s dairy farm 50 years ago is fresh on many people’s minds. Not the adventurous soul that would have hitched a ride to be there, I had no choice but to answer my rich uncle’s call to basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, during that time. Woodstock, an event that united a generation during a time of protest and, as quoted in AARP The Magazine, “Left a nation drenched in new ideas about love, p...
Having major league baseball manager Casey Stengel testify to a U.S. Senate subcommittee on July 8, 1958, was basically a publicity stunt. Instead of the committee conducting a boring hearing in front of a bored audience, Stengel’s appearance caught the attention of the media. He played to a packed house. Sitting next to Stengel at the witness table was one of his star players, Oklahoma’s own Mickey Mantle. The hearing room was in “standing room only” mode. The purpose of the hearing before...

Melanie Brungardt's four children were frustrated at school. Brungardt, of Oklahoma City, said some Putnam City Schools classes had too many students, and teachers were forced to spend more time on behavioral issues and less time on instilling knowledge. She understood teachers' challenges, but "as a parent, you hate sending your kid to school all day to not learn anything." The family considered homeschooling but decided against it – and ruled out virtual charter schools – because her kids did... Full story

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Despite more than doubling Midwestern State in shot attempts, Oklahoma Baptist Women's Soccer finished Wednesday's bout with the Mustangs in a 1-1 deadlock after regulation and two periods of extra time. Reigning GAC Defensive Player of the Week Hannah Evans showed she could be a threat offensively as well, putting OBU on top in the 34th minute of action. The junior defender took a free kick from 30 yards out that proved too strong for the goalkeeper's hands. The goal was Evans' first in the Green and Gold. The Bison were...

A State Department official said it is standard procedure to send an agent to investigate any incidents involving the secretary.
