    SEAN MURPHY|Mar 16, 2022

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Former U.S. Rep. Kendra Horn, a moderate Democrat who pulled off one of the biggest political upsets in the 2018 midterm elections, announced Tuesday she's joining the race for Oklahoma's soon-to-be vacant U.S. Senate seat. Horn, 45, is jumping into an increasingly crowded field seeking the post held for more than 25 years by Republican U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, who announced last month he plans to step down. "One of the primary reasons I decided to run is that I believe we need public servants, people who are going to reach a...

    TOM KRISHER|Mar 16, 2022

DETROIT (AP) — First came the beeping alarms and the dashboard lights warning that something had gone haywire. Then the driver's side windows suddenly and mysteriously rolled down. Kendall Heiman's Volkswagen SUV then pulled the scariest stunt of all: It abruptly braked for no reason. Heiman, a clinical social worker in Lawrence, Kansas, was driving her 15-year-old son to a class on Jan. 5 when her 2021 Atlas Cross Sport went bonkers. The malfunctions turned a normally routine two-mile round trip into a white-knuckle ordeal. "It literally f...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Despite already enacting one of the strictest abortion bans in the U.S., Tennessee Republicans on Tuesday began advancing yet another anti-abortion measure strategically written to sidestep federal court challenges. The proposal is almost a direct copycat of legislation currently enacted in Texas, which not only prohibits doctors from performing abortion before most people know they're pregnant but also allows private citizens to file civil lawsuits against anyone who helps someone else get the procedure after six w...
