  • Lord, grant me wisdom

Steve Hamm, College Hill Church of Christ|Dec 16, 2022

In I Kings 3:16-28, the story is told of the wisdom of Solomon. Two prostitutes were living together, and they both had baby boys just 3 days apart. One of the women lay on her baby one night so that it died. She promptly got up in the middle of the night and secretly exchanged her dead baby for the live one, and in the morning when the other mother got up to nurse her son, she found it dead. After close examination, she realized it wasn’t her son at all and knew the other mother had switched babies but wouldn’t give her back her son. She bro...

  • Ramblings of a Redneck Farmer

    Doug Little|Dec 16, 2022

This week’s article was going to be multifaceted. I was going to talk about the new job adventure and things going on around the farm. I was going to talk about ideas we had for our gardens this year, since it appears I am going to be home more. I was going to talk about the nonsense of toxic masculinity and I was going to praise our Lord and Savior for the blessings he continues to bestow on my family. All of those things individually would have made great topics to write on, but a conversation this past week has taken most of my idle time a...

  • Random Thoughts

    Roger Hardaway|Dec 16, 2022

When I was growing up, and for many years thereafter, our family doctor was a man who was very competent. Also, however, he had a no-nonsense sort of personality. He was blunt spoken. He would tell you what he thought you should do to get well, and he expected you to do it. If you didn’t, he’d chew you out! As a child, I was scared to death of him! Which gets me to the day I was sick with something approaching bronchitis and I wrote down on a piece of paper the name of the medicine an out...

  • Easy laughter and anecdotes at Alva Church of God

    Kathleen Lourde|Dec 16, 2022

I found Pastor Sheryl White in the Church of God kitchen, up to her elbows in pancake batter. It was a Wednesday morning, and some of the flock had been in for a big family-style brunch. "I have enough batter for one more pancake." As she cooked, she told me her story. "I've lived in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Indiana during my life," she... Full story
