Top left: SAIL AWA Y TO GRAND CHAMPION – This beauty entered by Becky Ross of Medicine Lodge gets the judge's vote for Grand Champion Photography. Top right: BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF RODEO = A GENUINE SMILE – With pigtails that dance as she wiggles while watching the excitement of the Barber County Rodeo events from a fence-side view, Tatum Howland has fun with her friends. Age 7, Tatum is the daughter of Sheena Howland of Kiowa. Bottom: GRANDMA'S CAKE IS SO GOOD – The best part about a blue ribbon cake at the fair is it has to be eaten after it's judged. Kiowa woman Janet Elwood made the blue ribbon cakes – one banana, the other chocolate. Conveniently her grandsons were at the Barber County Fair in Hardtner, Kansas, just in time to devour some of her sweet treats: (from left) Hudson, 9; age 12 twins Turner and Garrett. They are the sons of Craig and Kelli Killman of Alva. Elwood credits Ann Cargill for baking this year's Grand Champion Cake, a butterscotch swirl.
