Members of American Legion Post 92 listen as Dr. Carl Newton speaks at the Alva Municipal Cemetery on Memorial Day. At right is a monument erected May 1913 by the Womne's Relief Corps No. 32 of Alva honoring "soldiers who fought to save the Union." The base reads "May the flag that you fought for in peace forever wave."
