This festive bench at the corner of Flynn and Government streets marks the beginning of the Christmas holiday season. On Friday, Dec. 2, about 6 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive in downtown Alva to greet youngsters. That's also when the Alva Chamber of Commerce will be holding the Candy Cane Cash drawing on the courthouse stage for Chamber bucks that can be spent locally.
