Homemade cinnamon rolls and more at the Woods County Fair Kitchen

September 2, 2016

Homemade cinnamon rolls, grilled hamburgers, chicken and noodles, spaghetti and pies “just like Grandma used to make” await everyone who will be visiting the 2016 Woods County Free Fair. Again this year, thick, juicy hamburgers will be the spotlight in the Fair Kitchen as well as cream and two-crusted homemade pies, and layered desserts from some of the best cooks in the county will also be available.

Thursday’s lunch special will be chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, and tea or water for $6.50. Friday’s lunch special will include spaghetti, tossed green salad and dinner roll for $6.60 as well. A great variety of food will be prepared by the Woods County’s Home and Community Education members, considered by many as some of the best cooks in Woods County, as they volunteer their time and efforts to serve Woods County Fair-goers.

The fair kitchen hours are 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, and 9 a.m-noon Saturday, Sept. 10.

There are over 16 menu items and all can be requested the way you like them. Lisa Higgins, a member of the Lone Star OHCE group, will be again be serving as this year’s fair kitchen manager. Come and enjoy special delights at the Woods County Fair Kitchen!
