Home Garden Basket category for Woods County Fair

September 4, 2016

A mild summer with wonderful rains has been a key ingredient for making “home grown” entries possible for the Woods County Fair to be held on Sept. 8-10.

Home Garden Food Basket is always a popular category among gardeners. This entry consists of a quality selection of five different kinds or varieties of fruits or vegetables.

Entries should contain enough of each item for the judge to determine quality. All fruits or vegetables exhibited must be grown by the exhibitor and be in a container such as a box or basket. They are judged on quality as well as the attractiveness of the display. Packing such as straw, paper or cloth may be used, but the fruits and vegetables should be the main attraction of the exhibit.

Entry procedures are the same again this year; exhibits are due by 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8. Exhibitors may stop by the Woods County Extension Center for a copy of the fair book with the guidelines and pick up their fair exhibit tags.
