Avard Rail Park Authority agrees to new contract

Following a 30-minute executive session, the Avard Regional Rail Park Authority approved an amended contract with Martin-Marietta, the anchor business in the park, contingent on approval from counsel.
Due to declining oil field activity, the demand for rock from the provider also decreased until a broader customer base could be established. Woods County Commissioners recently began utilizing Martin-Marietta’s products once the proper grade of rock became available.
The new contract will waive rental payments in exchange for a Martin-Marietta employee to be kept at the park on a regular basis....
