Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016, at 12 p.m. (noon) at Alva Municipal Cemetery with Reverend Mark Bagley, pastor Assembly of God Church, officiating. Wharton Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

John Ray son of Hazel (McCullum) and John Robert Dunn was born on March 2, 1948, in Alva, Oklahoma. He passed away at Beadles Nursing Home on September 8, 2016, at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 6 days.

John attended Alva School up to the eighth grade. He was drafted into the Army and served six years. He was a Vietnam vet.

On December 6, 1971, in Wichita, Kansas, he was married to Peggy Lou Dooley at John's sisters, Thelma Marie Lewis', home.

Following their marriage they moved around a lot, because John worked in the oil field, for over 25 years. He worked in Alabaster, Alabama, and in 1973 they came to Alva. In 1978 He went to Elk City, for three years Canton, for seven years and then returned to Alva in 1978 and 2004 went to Higley, Arizona, and than again they moved back to Alva, where he worked as a truck driver until retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peggy on April 3, 2006., sister Thelma Marie Lewis, brother Robert (Gene) Dunn, an infant brother and infant sister

He is survived by a daughter Betty and her husband, J.C. Cheatham, two sons Rocky Corr, Lance Dunn and his wife Jaime all of Wichita Kansas, five grandchildren Jess, Josh, Shai-Ann, Morgan and K.C., sister Barbara and her husband Dawyne Julian of Hutchison, Kansas, a number of nieces nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Beadles Nursing Home activity fund through Wharton Funeral Chapel.
