October Rotary Students of the Month honored

Justin Meyer

Justin Meyer is the son of Bruce and Dixie Meyer.

High school activities include Student Council, football, basketball, soccer, speech and One Act. Activities outside of school include being a member of Alva First Baptist Church, FCA and VBS. He is a DJ for Boss Music. His goal is to attend OU and graduate with a degree in international business.

The best advice Meyer could give to a freshman is, "High school can be the best time of your life, so make the most of it." His personal philosophy in life is, "If you're having a bad day, wear jeans."

Austin Shklar

Austin Shklar is the son of Mike and Sherry Shklar.

High school activities include football, basketball, track and FFA. Activities outside of school include being a member of AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association). He is employed with Baird Farming and Ranching. His goal is to attend a college or university.

The best advice Shklar could give to a freshman is, "Give it your all." His personal philosophy is, "You only get out what you put in."

Cathy Mapes

Cathy Mapes is the daughter of Jeff and Michelle Mapes.

High school activities include student council, FFA, Key Club, Electric Gold, Girls Show Choir, class officer, National Honor Society, varsity softball, varsity basketball and Oklahoma Honor Society. Activities outside of school include local 4-H, Woods County 4-H, piano and member of Zion Lutheran Church youth group. Her goal is to attend Oklahoma State University Medical School to become a pediatrician. The best advice Mapes could give to a freshman is, "Always strive to do your best, set a good example and have fun." Her personal philosophy is, "Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Mattie Duncan

Mattie Duncan is the daughter of Paul and Tammy Duncan.

High school activities include student council, Health to Others, National Honor Society, Key Club, basketball, softball manager and cross country. Outside of school activities include being a member of First Methodist Church and youth group and First Baptist Church youth group. Her goal is to attend Oklahoma State University to obtain degree in education or health and exercise.

The best advice Duncan could give to a freshman is, "Get involved. Join a club, play a sport, make lots of friends. Get involved." Her personal philosophy is, "You can always find a way to have fun in everything you do."
