Wonder Boys fall to Savage Storm

DURANT, Okla. – Justin Bailey rushed for 111 yards, while three Wonder Boys defenders racked up over ten tackles, but the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys football team (4-4) was unable to overcome the Southeastern Oklahoma defense in the fourth quarter, as the Savage Storm (4-4) outlasted the Wonder Boys 36-31 on Saturday at Paul Laird Field.
NOTABLES
Southeastern Oklahoma drove down the field on the opening drive of the game, but Nick Akinsintercepted a pass in the backfield and returned it 70 yards to the Southeastern 4 to set up the game-opening score.
Arkansas Tech was held to 348 yards while SE racked up 525.
Southeastern Oklahoma controlled the time of possession, holding the ball for 40:14 to Tech's 19:46.
The Savage Storm were at their best on third down, converting 15 of 21 third-down opportunities, while holding Tech to two of ten.
D'Vonta Derricott had a team-high 15 tackles, while Seth Culp added 13 and Jandt Weary added 10.
Southeastern Oklahoma ran 96 plays from scrimmage, holding Tech to 54.
Both teams were perfect in the red zone – Tech was 4-for-4, while SE was 6-for-6.
