Household Executives OHCE group learns about favorite cheeses

The Household Executives met Oct. 19 in the home of Carol Anderson. The meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Gasaway who also led the group in the flag salute. The eight members answered roll with “What is your favorite cheese?”

Devotion was given by the hostess from Psalm 143. Minutes of the September meeting were read by Secretary Nicki Chaffee. The treasurer’s report was presented by Eleanor Ring. It was reported that the Household Executives booth won third place at the county fair. Fair entries were discussed for the 2017 fair.

November Leader Training will be “Exploring Holiday Traditions.” Holiday Happenings will be Oct. 29, Saturday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Woods County Fairgrounds.

Susan Holliday will lead a program called “Walk with Ease” to encourage movement and activity. The program will be Nov. 14 –Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Call the Extension office for more information.


Carol Anderson presented the lesson on “Say Cheese and Smile.” The history of cheese was presented as well as numerous recipes. A variety of cheeses was presented for members to identify.

Carol Anderson, Betty Benson, Barbara Bouziden, Nicki Chaffee, Carolyn Gasaway, Lola Heaton, Evelyn Kramp and Eleanor Ring enjoyed apple cider and cheese and crackers and cheesecake.

The next meeting will be Nov. 16; co- hostess will be Evelyn Kramp; lesson will be provided by Barbara Bouziden.
