Large LPG tank to be installed at Share Medical Center

Alva Fire Marshal Bryan Miller tells the city council about plans to install a 12,000 gallon LPG tank at Share Medical Center. The council approved the plans for the tank at their Nov. 7 meeting.

Alva's Share Medical Center (SMC) is going to install a new boiler system to provide heating for the hospital complex. The new boiler will operate on natural gas, but a backup power source is required to assure the well-being of patients in the event of a disruption to the power source. The boiler chosen by SMC requires the backup to be liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

SMC is planning to install a 12,000 gallon LPG tank to provide that alternate fuel source. The location is in the southwest corner of their back parking area.

Any fuel tank over 100 gallons must be approved by the city to protect...
