Bill Harris, consulting chef, brings new ideas to Alva schools

Bill Harris, consulting chef, visited Alva schools this week to work with cooks at each of the Alva sites to provide new ideas for preparing food that kids like, but is also healthy.

The program is paid by a USDA grant supervised by the OSU Health Sciences Department. They are halfway through the five-year grant period. Harris, a former restaurant owner, regularly visits eight schools as his assignment out of the 25 schools served by the program.

Four of his schools are in western Oklahoma and four are in eastern Oklahoma. He said while he lives in Tulsa, he is enjoying his trips to western Ok...
