Get a `Star Ornament' for your favorite veteran in Boy Scouts' Operation Christmas

These are a few of the 16 Boy Scouts and their leaders from Kiowa's Troop 281 who set up a booth at Kiowa's Fall Fest to sell community birthday calendars and hot apple cider. Now the troop is gearing up for their "Operation Christmas." The vacant lot at Seventh and Main in Kiowa, Kansas, will come alive with five Christmas trees featuring decorations in colors and themes that represent the five branches of military service.

The focal point of the decorations will be Star Ornaments you secure with a donation for your favorite veterans. Those veterans who have already passed will be honored with a Gold Star. Veterans who have previously served or are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces will be honored with a Wood Stained Star.

This is a new community project started by Kiowa's Boy Scout Troop 281. Operation Christmas al...
