Deputies didn’t have to look far to locate a Freedom woman wanted on an arrest warrant. Deputies David Cummings and Adam Honeyman told Woods County Undersheriff Keith Dale they saw Miranda Jo Gilliland near the courtroom of the courthouse. They also said she appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine.

Dale told Honeyman there was a current felony warrant for Gilliland for distribution of a controlled dangerous substance within 2,000 feet of a school. He instructed them to arrest her.

According to documents filed in the case, Honeyman arrested Gilliland on the warrant and took her to the sheriff’s office to complete the book in process.

During booking, a search of Gilliland’s property was conducted. This revealed one corner of a plastic baggie containing methamphetamine with the top tied into a knot, one metal container with methamphetamine inside, one makeup container with two plastic baggies of methamphetamine, one mirror with residue and a ten dollar bill.

Gilliland was placed under arrest for additional charges. On the Nov. 9 felony charge for which she had a warrant, bond was set at $25,000.

Miranda Jo Gilliland, 34, of Freedom was charged Nov. 18 with a felony of possession of controlled dangerous substance – meth with intent to distribute. This crime is punishable by a fine of up to $20,000 or imprisonment for two years to life or both such fine and imprisonment. Bond on this charge was set at $15,000. Gilliland’s next court appearance on the charge is Dec. 13.
