Lincoln Elementary gets fit

Front to back: Kacie Moore, Paige Dupree and Brileigh Duncan, all fourth graders, actively competed in the 100m rowing exercise with their classmates in the Lincoln Elementary gymnasium for the FitQuest program.

The fourth-graders, and some fifth-grade classes at Lincoln Elementary school in Alva, have been participating in the six-week FitQuest Program that helps kids improve their cardiovascular fitness. The program utilizes exercise machines called ergometers that the students can use to practice rowing. The ergometers are brought to the participating school by the program instructor and left for the duration of the program.

FitQuest is funded by a grant known as the Healthy Living Grant from the Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) and is sponsored by Mercy Health Systems. Kathy Gordon, T-Set...
