As we saw last week, Leon Russell was born and raised in Oklahoma, but he left the Sooner State as a young man to pursue a career in the music business in California.

Eventually he became a well-respected and often-used studio musician who performed on some of the most famous recordings in musical history.

In the meantime, Russell also carved out a career for himself as a recording artist. His albums (of which he recorded over 30) are an eclectic mix of rock, blues, jazz, gospel, country and everything in between.
