Storm Fall to Harding

Poor shooting and defensive struggles lead to 88-50 loss to Harding

BETHANY, Okla.— Southern Nazarene struggled offensively as they shot 28.6 percent from the field in a 88-50 loss to Harding Thursday night.

The Crimson Storm (2-3, 0-3 GAC) started the game ice cold as they shot 5.7 percent in the first quarter, making just one field goal. Harding (5-1, 3-0 GAC) jumped out to a commanding lead as they started the game on a 16-0 run. The Bison shot 60 percent from the field, making 12-of-20 field goals. Harding led 28-4 at the end of the first quarter.

The Storm were able to knock down a few more shots in the second quarter as they shot 30 percent from the field on 3-10 shooting. Southern Nazarene failed to make a 3-point shot in the first half as they were 0-for-5. SNU was able to hold the Bison under 50 percent shooting as they shot 46.7 percent from the field in the second quarter. Harding led the rebounding battle 27-18 after two quarters of play.

Southern Nazarene doubled up its point total in the third quarter, as they were able to push their score to 30 after shooting 36.3 percent on 8-22 shooting. The Storm however, could not gain any ground on the Bison, as they were able to build 41-point lead with the score at 71-30 at the end of the third quarter.

The Storm ended the game on a solid note as they were able to outscore the Bison 20-15 in the fourth quarter, shooting 46.7 percent from the field on 7-of-15 shooting. Mariah Williams led the Storm in scoring as she was the only SNU player to reach double figures. Williams finished the night with ten points and added five rebounds.

The Storm finished the game shooting 28.6 percent on 18-of-63 shooting, while the Bison shot 53.8 percent on 35-of-65 shooting. The Bison won the battle in the paint as they out rebounded SNU 48-33 and outscored the Storm 48-28 in points in the paint. Southern Nazarene also had 19 turnovers, which led to 27 Bison points.
