Tigers fall to ECU by a final of 85-70

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers men's basketball team lost to East Central on Saturday in Ada, Okla. by a final of 85-70. Senior guard Lakee Westbrook led all scorers with 27 points. The Tigers go to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Ouachita took a 4-3 lead early in the first period on a layup by forward Carven Holcolmbe. It was the only lead for the Tigers in the game. East Central led by 14 with just over minutes remaining in the first half. The Tigers went on a 10-2 run to close the gap to six. Westbrook was responsible for six of those points during the run. ECU answered, closing out the half with an 11-2 run.

Down 42-25 to start the second half, could not close the gap despite outscoring East Central 45-43 in the final period. Ouachita did most of its damage in the paint and at the free throw line. 16 of Westbrook's 27 points came in the second half, shooting 5-9 from the floor and 5-6 from the charity stripe.

The Tigers will play their next game on Dec. 31 versus Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas. That game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
