Woods County commissioners sign on for two projects

December 8, 2016

The Woods County commissioners made several deals with ODOT Monday. One will be an agreement for bridges and approaches over Lake Creek, .3 miles south of Dacoma. The other was for a bridge and approaches over Sand Creek, 2.3 miles east and 1.7 miles north of the junction of U.S. Highway 281 and State Highway 45. Another vote was approved for a project agreement supplement for grade drain and surface on NS-237 beginning approximately 5.0 miles north of U.S. Highway 64 and extending 3 miles north. Danny Head from Circuit Engineering said there was $62,500 in federal funds available for the last project.

The board revised their $735-per-month lease for the election board in the Professional Building to end at the conclusion of the fiscal year. The goal was to get the agreement on a fiscal year basis.

The commissioners agreed to junk a floor buffer, and also two laser printers (from the treasurer's office).

In an item added under new business, Alan Wharton, local funeral home owner, asked for financial help in paying for the cremation of a person, Randall Parker, age 34, who died an unattended death on Saturday and no one will claim the body. The county has a charity account for unexpected events but will check with the DA's office first.

A road crossing permit was approved for SemGas for D2, 14-26-16 with a $500 fee.
