CLAREMORE, Okla. – Senior forward Jeylynn Sharpe scored a career-high 21 points and added 11 rebounds for a double-double as the Rogers State men's basketball team overpowered visiting St. Gregory's in a 91-69 victory on Wednesday (Dec. 7) at the Claremore Expo Center.

The efficient Hillcats shot 52.9 percent (37-70) from the field with only 12 turnovers to total the 91 points. The shooting performance is the fifth time in eight games this season the navy and red shot better than 50 percent, all coming in victories.

RSU dominated from start to finish in the nonconference tile, tallying the first eight points in less than three minutes for an 8-0 advantage. Sharpe, Johnathon Buckley and JD Tisdale each scored layups during the opening run. The Hillcats pushed the margin to 20 in the first half on a Baron Smith Jr. 3-pointer for a 37-17 score with 5:23 left in the first half.

The navy and red held a 44-32 advantage at halftime.

Sharpe registered eight of his 11 rebounds in that opening half as the senior forward pulled down eight of the 20 total team rebounds in the half. The Cats shot 51.4 percent (18-35) in that first stanza with Sharpe scoring 11 points.

In the second half, the Hillcats went up by 21 points on a dunk from Tisdale for a 57-36 score with 17:02 remaining. RSU led by double digits the whole second half in the 91-69 win.

Sharpe finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. The 21 points sets a new career high in his four-year career at RSU for Sharpe as his previous high of 20 points came against Texas-Permian Basin on Dec. 31, 2015. He went 9-of-14 shooting from the field.

Tisdale added 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and a game-high six assists. Also in double figures was Travis Hester with 12 points on four 3-pointers and Baron Smith Jr. with 11 points.
