Alva Key Club calls for Toys for Tots

December 16, 2016

Toys for Tots, founded in 1947, is a non-profit organization run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve that distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. According to the organization, over 97 percent of donations go to the group's mission of providing toys, books and other gifts to less-fortunate children.

Members of the Alva High School Key Club volunteered to call around the community of Alva in hopes of collecting donations towards Toys for Tots. Students called Monday, Nov. 28, through Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Toys for Tots is a great way to bring joy to children during the holiday season. For anyone wishing to donate to this cause, donations may be given to a Rotarian, taken to the fire station, or taken to the McClure Agency in Alva. Donations are welcome year-round and any donations brought in after Christmas this year will be put into a fund for next year.
