Ladybugs fall just short against Ponca City

Despite Whitney Randall’s 27 points – tie for her career-high – the Ladybugs fell just short as Class 6A Ponca City gave Alva their first loss of the season.

Randall opened the game immediately with an easy two-point basket at the lower block to give the Ladybugs the early lead, but Ponca City responded with a three-point play to take the lead 2-3.

Ponca City’s long-range ball hurt the Ladybugs as they drained back-to-back treys to build a seven-point lead over Alva 2-9. Ponca City got as much as an 11-point lead in that first quarter, before the Ladybugs found an answer with two big threes co...
