A head-on collision with a semi took the life of a Waynoka woman Thursday. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that Lisa K. Selvey, 49, of Waynoka was pronounced dead at the scene of massive injuries. She was transported to the Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Selvey’s vehicle collided head-on with a semi at 12:02 p.m. Dec. 22 on U.S. Highway 281, one and one-tenth miles north of U.S. Highway 412. The location is 23 miles west and 5.1 miles north of Orienta in Major County.

Selvey was driving a 2005 GMC Envoy south on U.S. Highway 281 with her son Jeffrey Tanner Selvey, 18, as a passenger. Dwight Ernest Evans, 64, of Los Angeles, California was driving a 2010 Freightliner truck northbound on U.S. Highway 281. The highway patrol report states that Mrs. Selvey’s vehicle traveled left of center, striking the semi.

Both Mrs. Selvey and her son were pinned for an unknown amount of time. Her son was extracted by the Waynoka Fire Department. He was transported by Air Evac from the heli-pad at Little Sahara to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma where he was admitted for head and trunk internal injuries and listed in critical condition. The report says Mrs. Selvey was partly ejected and was extricated by the Alva Fire Department.

Evans was transported by Waynoka EMS to Share Medical Center in Alva where he was treated and released.

Trooper Brock Morgan investigated. He was assisted by Troopers Linda Hartley, Seth Wallace, Seth Sturgeon, Donald Kraft, Randal McCullough, and Jeff Steelman. Also helping at the scene were two Oklahoma park rangers, the Major County Sheriff’s Office, Waynoka EMS and Fire Department, Alva Fire Department and Air Evac.
