Colsons have three generations of love for Northwestern

• Colson was one of six Kiowans on 1955 Rangers football team

When he started playing Ranger football in 1955, 1960 Northwestern graduate Willis Colson probably never imagined in 2016 he'd be taking a photo with his son-in-law Troy Haub, who was also a Ranger football player. Haub was defensive coordinator when the Rangers won the national championship in 1999. Now his son and Colson's grandson Docker wears the red and black with pride.

The year is 1955. Imagine a picture of six young men on bended knee in their Northwestern State College football uniforms posing for a picture on Ranger field.

Ranging from a senior to freshmen, all the young men are starters for the Rangers and all are from Kiowa, Kansas.

Willis Colson, a longtime educator from Burlington, is one of those former Kiowa High School Chieftains who was on his knee in that picture. Colson provided the yellowed newspaper clipping with that oh-so-faded photograph that ran in the newspaper in 1955. So unfortunately all you can do is imagine how the young men's faces...
