Alva man charged with manslaughter in fatal collision

The driver of the semi in this March 23, 2015, collision on U.S. Highway 64 east of Camp Houston was charged with second degree manslaughter on Feb. 3 in Woods County. A passenger in the pickup was ejected and died at the scene.

An Alva man, Brandon Wesley Rinehart, 23, has been charged with second degree manslaughter with a vehicle, a misdemeanor. The crime is punishable by a fine of $100 to $1,000 or imprisonment for up to one year, or both.

According to court papers, the charge stems from a fatal collision on March 23, 2015, in Woods County west of Alva. Gregario Galindo-Casanova, 35, of Houston, Texas, died in the crash.

The collision occurred at 9:40 a.m. on U.S. Highway 64 at County Road 250, six miles east of Camp Houston. The location is east of Red Horse Creek. A 2014 Peterbilt semi driven by Rinehart and own...
