February 12, 2017

BETHANY, Okla. — Southern Nazarene had seven errors and had 13 unearned runs in a 25-4 loss to Southwest Baptist Friday.

Southwest Baptist took advantage of an early SNU error that would have ended the inning and scored five off of that error to lead 5-0 at the end of the first. SBU added seven more in the second and four in the third before SNU got two back in the bottom of the third. Tyler Stevens drove home Garrett Perez with a double to right center to put the Storm up 1-0 before Stevens scored on a sacrifice fly to center by Dillon Feland.

The Bearcats though added three in the top of the fourth and one in the fifth to make it 20-2. SNU scored another in the bottom of the fifth on a Stevens ground out that scored Perez. The Bearcats made 21-3 in the top of the sixth before Mike Descisciolo hit a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to make it 21-4. SBU then added four more in the top of the seventh to put it away.

Descisciolo went 2-for-2 on the day while Perez went 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

Austin Cooper (0-1) took the loss after giving up four earned runs on six hits.
