Lady Bulldogs Cruise Past Lady Bison to Punch Ticket

February 17, 2017

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Women's Basketball defeated Oklahoma Baptist 87-59 on Thursday evening inside the Pioneer Cellular Event Center. The Lady Dawgs built a healthy 25 point first-half lead to go into the locker room with breathing room and outscored OBU in all four quarters to cruise to victory.

With the victory, SWOSU becomes the fourth team in the GAC to claim a spot in the postseason tournament held in Bartlesville on March 2 through the 4th. Harding, Arkansas Tech and Southeastern had previously punched their tickets and four more teams will between now and the final game of the regular season.

It was the Hailey Tucker and Hayden Priddy show in the opening two quarters on Thursday evening as the sophomore duo combined for 28 points including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc with all deep balls coming in the second quarter. SWOSU shot nearly 50% from the field as a team in the half and 91% from the charity stripe (10-for-11) that aided in building the lead.

The Lady Bulldogs finished with four players in double figures including a career high from Katie Percival who tallied 11 points in 14 minutes on the floor. SWOSU dominated on the boards and finished with a +13 rebounding margin over OBU.

After holding Northwestern to the lowest shooting percentage of any opponent SWOSU has faced this season on Monday at 27.9%, the Dawgs followed up their defensive performance by holding the Lady Bison to just 25.0% shooting in four quarters of basketball including a 13% second quarter.

The Dawgs edged OBU by two points in the third quarter and a single point in fourth to outscore the Lady Bison in every quarter. A 33-point lead at the 6:36 mark in the third quarter was the biggest lead SWOSU claimed and would go on to beat OBU by 28.

Saturday will conclude the busy three-game week for SWOSU and will also mark the final road game of the season when the Lady Bulldogs head to Durant, Okla. to take on Southeastern. The following week, SWOSU will host three home games to conclude the regular season before heading into the tournament.
