Freedom, Waynoka school board elections contested

Two school board candidates in Woods County have contested the results of Tuesday’s election. Contested elections are for the Freedom and Waynoka districts.

Freedom

Shane Morris of Freedom filed a petition on Feb. 16. He was a candidate for Office No. 5 on the Freedom Board of Education. Morris received 82 votes in the election while Raul Galindo received 83. A hearing will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 1:30 p.m. in the Woods County Courtroom in Alva.

Normally the newly elected school members would be sworn in at the next board meeting. Freedom will meet Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. The agenda...
