Kiowa's Community Building was packed as hundreds of FFA students compete in the South Central Judging Contest hosted by the South Barber FFA.

The South Barber FFA hosted the South Central District Meat, Ag Business and Food Science CDE contest in Kiowa, Kansas, last week.

SB FFA Chapter Adviser Kyle Jacobs said 20 schools participated, which resulted in 387 entries. Kiowa's Community Building was filled wall to wall with students competing.

In meats judging, Jacobs said students did an I.D. portion, quality grade and yield grade. They took a content test and then had two placing classes.

In ag business students took a general knowledge over business operations and then a math practicum. For food science, FFA members took a general content test; did a two triangle test (to find which product out of three is different, relating to product uniformity); identified problems in food safety photos; and identified aromas.
