Eastin Matches School Record, Hillcat Women's Golf Finishes Ninth

AUSTIN, Texas – Rogers State's Mica Eastin tied her own school record with a 69 Tuesday at Onion Creek Course as the Hillcat women finished ninth at the 2017 St. Edward's Invitational.
Eastin matched her own school record for the third time with a one-under par 69 improving by eight strokes from the opening round Monday to finish tied for fifth place. The junior shot a 146 for the 36 hole event finishing five strokes out of first place.
The Hillcats shot just six strokes off the best team score in the second round carded by team champion University of Indianapolis with a 297 on the way to a team two-day total of 586, for 26-over par.
St. Mary's Regina Gonzalez won on the fourth playoff hole with a par on No. 18 to defeat Tarleton State's Sarah Gee after the pair shot one-over par 141 for the tournament.
Senior Kina Boone shot one-stroke off her opening round as the Choctaw, Okla. native carded a 75 to finish in a tie for 13th. Freshman Mariana Flores shot three-strokes better than Monday as she tallied a 77 for a 157 total and a tie for 40th.
Sydney Murray shaved three strokes off yesterday's 85 with a round of 82 Tuesday to finish in 69th while Stirling Phillips carded an 88 on the final day of play.
RSU saw its team score improve by eight strokes as the Hillcats finished with a score of 614 with rounds of 311 on Monday and a 303 team score Tuesday. The Hillcat women finished 22 strokes ahead of 10th place Texas A&M Commerce and just seven strokes out of a tie for sixth.
Rogers State returns to action March 6-7 at the Lions Invitational at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro, Texas hosted by Texas A&M Commerce.
