Lady Bison Wrap Up First Tournament of Spring

AUSTIN, Texas – (Final Results) Oklahoma Baptist women's golf wrapped up their first tournament of the spring Tuesday afternoon, finishing 13th at the St. Edward's Invitational.
The Lady Bison shot 330 in the second and final round to finish at 652 (322, 330), two strokes ahead of Lubbock Christian in 14th place, and just four strokes behind Cameron for 12th place.
Conditions at Onion Creek Club were difficult once again due to heavy rainfall over the weekend. The average score for the field increased by 0.74 strokes from Monday to Tuesday's round, rising from 79.07 to 79.81.
Michelle Carr finished T44 to lead OBU, using 83 strokes in the second round for a 160 (77, 83) finish.
Elly Baze and Emma Williams shared the low round honors for the Lady Bison today, each finishing with an 82. Baze was T55 at 163 (81, 82) and Williams placed T61 with a 164 (82, 82) total.
Sophomore Shannen Stewart shot 83 in the final round to finish at 165 (82, 83) and tie for 66th place. Paige Neidy carded an 86 for the second straight day to finish at 172 (86, 86) and place T76.
Kadrian Shelton competed as an individual for the Lady Bison, improving 14 strokes from the first to second round to shoot 83. She finished T82 with a score of 180 (97, 83).
Indianapolis completed a wire-to-wire team victory with a two-round total of 586 (289, 297). Regina Gonzalez of St. Mary's and Sarah Gee from Tarleton State finished tied for first individually after shooting identical rounds for the second straight day, each posting a 141 (68, 73).
Oklahoma Baptist will take a week off before returning to the links on March 6 at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational, hosted by Southern Nazarene at Kickingbird Golf Club in Edmond, Oklahoma.
