Hearings for two Woods County election protests were held back to back Wednesday afternoon in Alva. District Judge Justin Eilers handed down different verdicts in the cases.

The contested vote in the Waynoka school district involved three candidates for Office 2. Unofficial returns from Feb. 14 showed Travis George received 209 votes, Mindy Zook 180 and Jennifer Rich 23. To be declared the winner, a candidate must receive more than 50 percent of the total vote. In this election, the winning candidate needed 207 votes.
