Splitting with the Tigers: SNU won the first game 2-0 and dropped the second 5-4 game to OUA

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Southern Nazarene got its first win in conference play as they split with Ouachita, winning 2-0 in the first game and falling 5-4 in the second game Saturday afternoon.
Southern Nazarene struck first as they were able to score a run in the first. Amy Reynolds led the inning off by getting hit by a pitch. Sam Smith bunted her over to second, and Mahina Sauer drover her in with an RBI double to left to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.
The Storm added a second run in the sixth as SNU was able to load the bases and Logan Sundbye delivered an RBI single to score Kai Sanchez, give Southern Nazarene a 2-0 lead.
Katelyn Brown (2-3) got the win as she pitched a complete gave shutout, giving up just two hits and striking out four in the opener.
Kai Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a double, Sundbye went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Sauer went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk.
In the nightcap, Southern Nazarene opened the first with a run, as Brown's RBI single scored Smith. The Tigers answered in the second with one run to tie the game at 1-1. Ouachita then added two runs in the third and one more in the fourth to lead 4-1. The Storm's bats came alive in the sixth as they were able to score three two-out runs. SNU loaded the bases and got one run off after Sauer was hit by a pitch which scored Zippa LaJennesse. SNU scored two more runs when Freer-Christopher hit a two-RBI single to center to score Sanchez and Smith. Southern Nazarene was able to hold the Tigers scoreless in the seventh to push the game into extra innings, but Ouachita was able to score a run in the eighth on a walk-off homerun to left, giving OUA a 5-4 win.
Sauer (1-3) took the loss after giving up one run on three hits in 4.2 innings of work. Brown went 2-for-3 with, Smith went 1-for-3 with two runs and a walk, and Freer-Christopher went-1-for-1 with two RBI's.
