Alva residents report car burglaries

The Alva Police Department received two reports of attempted thefts from vehicles on Sunday, Feb. 26.
Tabitha Justice contacted police about 8:15 a.m. about a burglary of a vehicle in the 700 block of Locust Street. Officer Kris Franta went to the location where Justice told him she went to her car about 8 a.m. and found it had been rummaged through. Items had been moved in the front and rear center console. Someone had also gone through the pockets of a jacket in the back seat. Justice said it appeared nothing had been removed.
A small multi-colored bag was found on the ground by the driver’s side door. Justice said it did not belong to her. She believes entry was made into the car between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. on Sunday. The investigation is ongoing.
Officer Patrick Hawley went to the 700 block of Oklahoma Boulevard. Sunday about 4:30 p.m. to take a report from Laci Schultz. She told him she entered her vehicle at 7:50 a.m. to go to work and observed her console and glove compartment were open with papers everywhere inside her car. She said she thought she had $20 in cash inside her car but was not positive. She said there were other items inside the car that were not taken. Schultz said the burglary occurred between 5 p.m. Saturday and 7:50 a.m. on Sunday. The incident is still under investigation.
