Alva assists at Alfalfa County fire

The Alva Fire Department was one of about 24 departments called to assist Alfalfa County on a wildfire near the Kansas border Friday, March 3. The fire was in the area of Amorita, Byron and Manchester. The Oklahoma Forestry Service reported Saturday at 8 a.m. that the fire had burned 2,413 acres and was considered only 50 percent contained.

The Alva fire crew was spread thin when a shed on fire was reported to the north and west of Alva Friday afternoon.
