OHCE members honored at Achievement Night

 

2016 Woods County OHCE Member of the Year Winner Carolyn Gasaway

The Woods County Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) met on Feb. 23 at the Women's Building on the Woods County Fairgrounds to celebrate OHCE Achievement Night. The annual event recognizes outstanding members, perfect attendance winners and group achievements.

After registration and refreshments, the meeting was called to order by President Carolyn Gasaway. The meeting continued with the flag salute and the OHCE Creed led by Paula McMurphy. The devotion was led by Sharon Barnes.

Joanne Prewett played the piano, and Sally Nighswonger led the group in singing "When You Wore a Tulip" to go along with the evening's flower theme.

Gasaway presented the evening's awards. Perfect attendance awards for local and county meetings were distributed, followed by the OHCE Scrapbook, Secretary Book and Achievement Points honors. All groups were well-represented in their respective competitions.

Receiving local club perfect attendance awards were Elaine Graybill, Vicki Logsdon and Sally Nighswonger of Better Homes OHCE; Nicki Chaffee, Carolyn Gasaway, Lola Heaton and Evelyn Kramp of Household Executives OHCE; Dottie Gatz, Aleta Nolan and Maureen Thomas of Patchwork Friends OHCE.

Receiving county perfect attendance awards were Elaine Graybill, Diana Nighswonger, Sally Nighswonger, Melissa Fisher and Vicki Logsdon of Better Home OHCE; Evelyn Kramp, Carolyn Gasaway, Nicki Chaffee, Eleanor Ring and Lola Heaton of Household Executives OHCE; and Dottie Gatz, Barbara Cue, Doris White, Joanne Prewett, and Maureen Thomas of Patchwork Friends OHCE.

Next, the outstanding OHCE members were announced. The OHCE Rookie Member nominee was Nicki Chaffee from the Household Executives OHCE, who won the Rookie of the Year award. The Heart of OHCE nominees were Sharon Barnes, a member of the Lone Star OHCE, Eleanor Ring, a member of Household Executives OHCE, and Joanne Prewett, a member of the Patchwork Friend OHCE. The Heart of OHCE Award was received by Joanne Prewett. The OHCE Member of the Year nominees were Carolyn Gasaway, member of Household Executives OHCE, and Barbara Cue, a member of the Patchwork Friends OHCE. Joanne Prewett, a member of Patchwork Friends OHCE was awarded the OHCE Member of the Year. Each winner was given a plaque and flowers.

Throughout the proceedings, door prizes provided by OHCE Vice President April Decker were distributed and were enthusiastically received.

A special thanks goes to Patchwork Friends and Lone Star OHCE for serving as the hostess groups.
