Rescued barn wood gets new purpose

A Johnny Cash portrait on aged barn wood and an Oklahoma state flag formed from license plates are two of the works displayed by Terrall Prince of Hennessy at the Graceful Arts Gallery this month.

What can you do with an old piece of wood? Terrall Prince of Hennessey knows the answer. He repurposes pieces of old barn wood into works of art. The Graceful Arts Gallery in downtown Alva is featuring several of his unique pieces throughout March in their pop culture themed display.

Prince isn't limited to barn wood, however. "I do everything from portraits in pencil to charcoal and acrylics and also do painting on wood." He also does some metal art.

Prince finds the wood from old barns that have burned or are just dilapidated so the owner wants them removed. Sometimes he even buys the wood....
