South Barber 8th grader wins third at state free throw contest

Chloe Blunk, an eighth grader at South Barber, earns the third place medal at the Kansas Knights of Columbus Free Throw State Championship contest.

Those college hoops standouts ready for March Madness don't have anything on Chloe Blunk. On Sunday, the South Barber eighth grader shot her way to third place at the Knights of Columbus Free Throw State Championship at the Sacred Heart Junior/Senior High School in Salina, Kansas.

Representing the south-central Kansas region as their champion, Blunk tied with another girl, after each made 19 out of 25 free throws. To determine the state third-place winner, the girls competed in a shoot off. Making four out of five free throws, Blunk won a medal for third place.
