Golden Suns rebound with win over Reddies

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark – After dropping two weekend road matches, the Arkansas Tech women's tennis team (8-3) rebounded with a 7-2 win over the Henderson State Reddies in a mid-week, non-conference match on Thursday afternoon at the Chartwells Women's Sports Complex.

The Golden Suns will travel to Orlando, Fla. and spend their spring break on the court as they prep for a trio of matches. The Suns will start the week by facing SCAD-Atlanta (3-4) on Monday, March 20, at 2 p.m. The team will get an off day then face Florida Southern (5-2) at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by a 4 p.m. match versus Palm Beach Atlantic (7-6) on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Seniors Macarena Sedano Acosta and Tamara Bell picked up their ninth doubles win of the spring season with an 8-6 victory in No. 1 doubles.

The Suns went on to sweep doubles play with wins in No. 2 and No. 3 competitions.


Freshmen Kami Ward earned her eighth win in singles play this spring season, taking No. 5 singles 6-1, 6-3.

After dropping her first set in singles play, Haeleigh Long rallied back to take No. 6 singles over Lauren Miller.

Arkansas Tech would go on to win four of its six singles matches.
