Janice Melton steps down as warden at BJCC

The only warden BJCC has ever had, Janice Melton retires as of March 31. Department of Corrections (DOC) Director Joe Allbaugh read a resolution highlighting Melton's career, which was then approved unanimously by the DOC board.
He said her career began in corrections on Sept. 12, 1977, as a pardon and parole officer. The opening paragraph of the congratulatory resolution reads "Whereas, the Oklahoma Board of Corrections received with deep regret the news of the well-deserved retirement of Janice Melton ..."
