Tigers can't top SAU in doubleheader

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers' softball team (13-23, 7-17 GAC) lost both games of a doubleheader Saturday against #8 Southern Arkansas (31-5, 21-3 GAC). The Tigers lost the first game by a score of 4-5 and the second by a score of 0-3.
Ouachita was down 4-0 in the sixth inning of the first game when they underwent a great comeback. First, Chelsea Wilson scored a run on a sacrifice bunt from Sarah Johnson. The very next batter, Macy Nantz, hit a three-run homerun to center field to tie the score at four. Unfortunately for the Tigers, SAU scored in the bottom of the sixth to win the game by a score of 5-4. Macy Nantz was the starting pitcher in the game for the Tigers, but was relieved by Kelsey O'Brien before a decision was made. Therefore, O'Brien was the pitcher of record for the game and received the loss.
The second game of the day saw a multitude of power hitting from SAU. The Muleriders won the game by a score of 3-0 and scored off of three solo home runs. Macy Wilson had two hits in the game, but the Tigers were unable to score. Marissa Butler was the starting pitcher in the game.
The Tigers' next games will be played at home on Tuesday, March 4. The Tigers will face Henderson in a doubleheader with games at 4 and 6 p.m.
