Track & Field Runs at Wendy's/PSU Invitational

 


PITTSBURG, KAN. – The East Central University men's and women's track & field teams continued the 2017 season at the Wendy's/Pittsburg State Invitational in heavy winds.

The women's team saw 14 top-10 finishes in six events, with the men's side adding 11 top-10 finishes in six events.

The teams were both led in the 5,000 meter run where the Tigers claimed first in both the men's and women's races for the second-straight meet.

Sophomore Anna Mora earned first in the women's 5,000 in a time of 17:35.54, leading a group of five to finish in the top-10. Junior Michaela Lombardi was fourth (18:41.13), freshman Abbie Winchester fifth (19:20.72), redshirt junior Elena Estrada sixth (19:24.24) and sophomore Kelsey Horner was eighth (19:41.95).

On the men's side, ECU finished 1-2-3 and added three more runners in the top 10. Senior Richard Mora was first in the race in a time of 14:57.57. Sophomore Larry Filer was second (14:58.75), sophomore Cole Montgomery third (15:06.47), junior Caleb Biles eighth (16:1.67), freshman Daniel Camarillo ninth (16:12.45) and senior Noel Figueroa 10th (16:29.36).


The Tigers will next compete at several different meets April 13-14. Some members of the team will compete at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., while others will got the Mt. Sac Relays in Torrance, Calif., or the KT Woodman Classic in Wichita, Kan.
