EXCHANGE: Knox county women have the drive to farm

 


GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) — Lara Scholl grew up raising cows in 4-H and helping her dad on the family farm near Galesburg. But when it came to career choices, being a farmer wasn't on her list.

"I don't think I ever thought I would end up farming and driving tractors. I didn't think it was a job for a girl, and I never thought that's what I would do," she said. "But my dad needed help and I thought, maybe this is what I was meant to do. My dad taught me and my husband how to drive the tractor and we loved doing it. I love animals and I love harvest time.
