Softball Drops Double Header to No. 4 Harding

 


ADA – The East Central University softball team fell in the final two games of the Great American Conference series to No. 4 Harding. The Tigers first fell 0-8 in five innings and then 0-10.

The Tigers (21-21, 12-18 GAC) struggled to get their bats going in the games, with just five hits combined between them. Freshman Jaclyn Willis was one of five players with a single hit in the series, netting a double and a .333 average for the day.

ECU will now hit the road for a four-game league series at Oklahoma Baptist, April 14-15 in Shawnee, Okla.

Harding 8, East Central 0 (6)

The Bisons (38-4, 28-2 GAC) scored their first two runs in the second inning and added three more in the fourth. Harding then added three more runs in the fifth to put the run rule into effect.

The Tigers got just two base runners, with sophomore Mariah Ewy getting on base in the second due to an error and in the fourth with a single. However, she was unable to score both times.


Harding 10, East Central 0

The Bisons started the scoring in the second with five runs, while adding a run in both the fourth and sixth innings for the 0-7 advantage.

ECU had opportunities to score in the first through third innings, but were unable to get more than one runner past second base and none to cross the plate.

Harding added the final three runs of the game in the top of the seventh inning for the 0-10 win.
